The defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers make the trip to Japan after starting their 2024 season in Seoul, South Korea. They will play exhibition games against the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers before kicking off the regular season with a two-game set against the Chicago Cubs at the Tokyo Dome.
The Dodgers are the most popular team in Japan thanks to three of the biggest Japanese superstars all joining their squad over the past two offseasons. Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki are stars in their own right in the United States, but their stardom has reached a whole new level in Japan.
Ohtani immediately became the best player for a Los Angeles team that was already stacked with talent. He won the NL MVP Award in his first year with the Dodgers after becoming the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season.
Yamamoto signed a massive contract with the Dodgers before the start of last season, which was a huge success in year one. Sasaki became the most significant addition to the team this offseason when he signed on board. The two Japanese pitchers will start each of the games against the Cubs.
