Isabella Strahan is living her best life after announcing that she’s cancer-free, but she still has one thing she wishes she could go back and change about how she handled her treatment.

The 20-year-old appeared on the Saturday, March 1, episode of the Beyond the Battlefront podcast, where she told listeners, “I lost a lot of weight during my treatments, which was bound to happen because my appetite was out and I was nauseous all the time,” before she added, “But one thing I wish I did was move.”
Isabella went on to explain that she simply “did not want to move” her body during her treatment and admitted that it only made her recovery that much more challenging.

“I wish I just made myself walk, even 100 steps a day because I lost so much of my leg muscle,” she said later in the episode before she added, “It was not funny. It’s not fun to get back because I’m paying for it now trying to work out and everything. I’d tell myself, ‘Move. Move yourself. Drink a lot of water.’ All the health stuff.”

The daughter of Michael Strahan – the former New York Giants defensive tight end – was attending her freshman year at the University of Southern California when she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in October 2023. She underwent multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments to treat her illness and was declared cancer-free in July 2024. She has since returned to USC to resume her studies.

A primetime special about Isabella’s cancer journey premiered on February 5. The ABC-produced program covers her “diagnosis, treatment, recovery and recent return to college cancer-free.” The special includes appearances from Isabella’s mother, Jean Muggli, 57, her father, Michael, 53, and her twin sister, Sophia, 20.
