Shedeur Sanders is touted as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft.
Sanders has been projected to go as high as the No. 1 overall pick, but Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikemma has him sliding out of the first round entirely in his latest mock draft.
It seems that over the past couple of months, Miami’s Cam Ward has separated himself as the top signal-caller in this class, while Sanders has only hurt his draft stock.
Sanders did not do himself any favors by sitting out of the East-West Shrine Bowl and opting out of throwing at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Additionally, according to NFL insider Josina Anderson, she was told by a quarterbacks coach in the top seven picks that Sanders came off as “brash” and “arrogant” during their interview with them at the combine.
Sanders is a good player, possessing smarts, toughness, and accuracy. However, his physical traits are average, and his pocket management is a work in progress, traits that don’t typically scream first-round quarterback.
It might shock the general population if Sanders isn’t taken by a quarterback-needy team in the first round, such as the Raiders (No. 6), Jets (No. 7), Saints (No. 9), or even the Steelers (No. 21).
Considering all of the factors that have unfolded recently, a Sanders slide is possible.
